Blindness

The Earth is breathing even harder through her wounds
and bruises,
rivers of blood and used machine oil flow down and down
          our collective consciousness;
through the window I look at the scorched land outside
as I open a bottle of Coke –
Mother Nature vs. Capitalism;
you are still sleeping, my child, there will be no fairy tales
                                                for you,
tomorrow or ever.
