Tim Suermondt is the author of four full-length collections of poems, including THE WORLD DOESN’T KNOW YOU. His fifth collection JOSEPHINE BAKER SWIMMING POOL is out from MadHat Press (January 2019). He has published in Poetry, Ploughshares, The Georgia Review, Prairie Schooner, Able Muse and Plume, among many others. He lives in Cambridge with his wife, the poet Pui Ying Wong.

blue as the sky over the Liffey,

blue as the jerseys of the local footballers,

blue as the large eyes of the Trinity ancients,

blue as the street gutters after a bout of storm,

blue as the awning of a toffee shop,

blue as the notebook begging for words,

blue as the wall in the Northside pub,

blue as the tourist buses that never stop there.
