Invisible Countries: Countries and Signs

Invisible Countries: Countries and Signs

How can you describe a place called Dottie
a land of statistics, a land of probability

a country rooted in elegant traditions
traffic running wild, traffic running widdershins

green terrain shutting down completely
perchance of rain confounding new arrivals with

postings and signs, signs shedding slogans,
making promises directing the journey,

some pointing here, gesturing there
telling you when to go when to hold up

I too am on a journey deciphering patterns,
patterns in the signs, watching for dummy signs,

waiting for a hot sign sending me
running to a place called home.
