Olly and His Lack of Technique
When Olly awoke from his deep-sea dream
The fish was in his hands like a memento.
He didn’t know how it got there
But it was silver as a slice of moon,
As a revelation, a draft of wind and ice.
He touched its bright eyes and shuddered.
From then on objects snuck out of his sleep
Like culprits.
He could have had anything he imagined.
But someone else controlled his dreams
And each materialization perplexed
Even his slimmest wish.
